Desert & Sea patterns are centered around resortwear and swimwear and are designed with equal parts style and comfort. Simply put, I design sewing patterns with vacation vibes. The shop will also include accessories designed for sewists and makers.

Until 2019, I spent my life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a place that will always be home. Despite being landlocked and having a much greater need for sweaters and wool coats, my closet was always overflowing with swimwear and beachwear. When I moved to the desert, I quickly realized that many of the fabrics and styles I was used to wearing day-to-day were no longer practical. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to slowly and thoughtfully rebuild my wardrobe and to cut back on ready-to-wear purchases.

When I left my job in late 2020, I knew that I wanted to pursue something that I was passionate about, but after spending 15 years climbing the corporate ladder, I couldn’t see a clear path. My decompression took the form of countless home improvement projects — from painting every room in the house to teaching myself to do electrical work. When I got to the project of setting up my sewing studio, the fog started to clear. It was a space that inspired me and somewhere I could lose hours, even days. My studio became happy place, and the seed that grew into Desert & Sea Studio.

I am endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to find my way to Desert & Sea. Now that I’m here, it seems like it should have been obvious all along. The path has been full of ups and downs, breakthroughs and doubts, and lots of learning. I hope you’ll follow me as Desert & Sea begins its journey. I’ll be over here enjoying every step.
